Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Talent Development program has a rich legacy, which began in 1971, when Walt Disney's "Nine Old Men" set out to create a unique opportunity to train next-generation artists under the guidance and mentorship of Disney Animation legends.
Our intern and apprentice programs focus on connecting our Studio and craft to the next generation. We build on our legacy through continued exploration, innovation, and collaboration in a real-time, mentor-mentee relationship centered around our craft.

What is the intern experience like at Walt Disney Animation Studios?
Interns focus on developing craft and skill through close mentorships and hands-on assignments. You’ll not only learn within your area, but get visibility into other parts of the business through frequent meet & greets with leaders and innovators from around the studio.
What do you look for in a reel/portfolio for an artistic production internship?
Show only your best work! Tailor your work to the discipline you’re applying for, showcasing your versatility and originality. Your social media is a great supplement, but shouldn’t be the portfolio itself.
What tips do you have for internships that only require a resume?
Be clear and concise! Include relevant work experience and industry exposure. Choose a simple format; sometimes less is more. Focus on highlighting the needed skill set outlined in the job description.

What is the trainee experience like at Walt Disney Animation Studios?
Disney Animation's Trainee program is an immersive experience into our production pipeline, tools, craft, and studio culture. Throughout the program, you'll be guided by mentors who will focus on your skill sets and areas of growth. In addition to assignments, you'll build relationships with others in the program and meet leaders, artists and technologists across the studio.
What format should I use for my reel/portfolio?
Follow the submission formats from the job posting. Websites should be easy to navigate and curated for consideration, and if a password is required, be sure to include it!

Internships are generally posted late fall through spring. Trainee opportunities are posted throughout the year, based on production needs. Check back often!
